ICICI iShop Explained: How the Rewards Portal Actually Works
What iShop actually is
iShop is ICICI Bank's own shopping and booking portal for travel and gift vouchers, functioning the same way HDFC's SmartBuy does: book or buy through the portal with your ICICI card instead of going directly to the airline, hotel, or brand's own website, and you earn an accelerated reward rate on the same purchase.
How much the multiplier actually is
Rates vary by category and card: commonly up to 6X on flight bookings, up to 12X on hotel bookings, and up to 6X on shopping vouchers, though co-branded cards sometimes earn a flat cashback percentage instead of multiplied points. iShop-earned rewards are tracked as "iCash," ICICI's name for the accelerated reward credit earned specifically through the portal.
What a 12X hotel booking actually looks like
Take a ₹20,000 hotel stay on a card earning 1 point per ₹100 normally, that's 200 points booked direct. The same booking through iShop at a 12X hotel multiplier takes that to roughly 2,400 points, an extra 2,200 points for identical dates, room, and price. At even a conservative ₹0.30 per point redemption value, that's close to ₹660 in additional value sitting entirely in which website you clicked "book" from.
Getting started
iShop requires a one-time registration, but carries no separate joining or annual fee of its own, it's a feature layered on top of your existing ICICI card, not a separate paid product. Payments on the portal accept ICICI credit cards, debit cards, and net banking, though the accelerated reward rate is specifically the credit card incentive.
Crediting timelines
iCash or reward points from iShop transactions are typically credited within 90 days of the purchase, or 45 days after travel completion for bookings, whichever is later. That's a meaningfully longer window than a normal purchase's reward credit, worth factoring in if you're planning to redeem points around a specific date.
Practical tips
Compare the iShop rate against booking direct before assuming it's automatically better, occasionally a brand's own direct promotion or discount code outperforms the accelerated points value, especially if you don't have a clear redemption plan for the extra points. As with any bank shopping portal, the accelerated rate only applies if the transaction actually routes through iShop, not if you navigate to the brand's site separately afterward.
